What is the warranty period on Ziptrak® blinds?
From 1 September 2024, all genuine Ziptrak® components are now covered by an extended 5-year warranty (previously 2 years). This applies to both our Outdoor and Interior systems, giving you even more confidence that your blinds are built to last.
If you ever experience an issue, simply contact your retailer — they’ll be your first point of support. Retailers may also provide their own warranty on top of Ziptrak®’s, so it’s worth confirming the details with them when you make your purchase.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
- The fabric/skin of the blind is not manufactured by Ziptrak®, so it is not included in the Ziptrak® warranty.
- To keep your warranty valid, your blinds need to be fabricated and installed according to our official manuals.
With genuine components and professional installation, you can relax knowing your Ziptrak® blinds are backed by years of reliable performance and support.
How much do Ziptrak® blinds cost?
Ziptrak® blinds are custom-made, so price depends on:
- System type (Outdoor or Interior)
- Size
- Material (Outdoor: PVC or mesh / Interior: light filtering and blockout options)

How do I know I’m receiving a genuine Ziptrak® product?

Some sellers may claim to offer Ziptrak® blinds when in fact they supply copycat, unknown, or competing products. These imitations may use similar spellings of our brand name but fail to meet our strict quality standards. Can Ziptrak® Blinds be installed DIY?
No. Every Ziptrak® blind is custom-made to the exact measurements of your opening with specialised components. To achieve the best fit, performance, and appearance, Ziptrak® blinds must be installed by an experienced installer of our products.
Installers in our Retailer network receive specific training in the Ziptrak® system and bring years of experience to ensure your blinds are robust and reliable. A professional installation is also essential to achieve light-blocking or light-filtering benefits of a Ziptrak® Interior blind, or the wind resistance and smooth finish of a Ziptrak® Outdoor blind.
By choosing professional installation, you can enjoy a high-quality product that lasts for years and requires minimal maintenance.

Why is there no Zip in a Ziptrak® Blind?
Ziptrak® has been manufacturing outdoor blinds since the turn of the millennium — the year 2000 — when our founder and inventor, Tony de Maaijer, first designed, built, and installed outdoor blinds for a restaurant in Adelaide, South Australia.
At the time, there were no other track-guided systems on the Australian market. Tony used to describe the operation of the blind as “zippy,” meaning it moved easily up and down the track and could be used by people of all ages and abilities. There was no actual zipper in the blind, as Tony had invented an innovative method of holding the fabric in the track using a side spline. Tony always regarded a zipper as something for clothing, not for blinds — and he still does!
The brand name “Ziptrak®” was inspired by the effortless, zippy motion of the blind gliding smoothly along the track — but there has never been an actual zipper in the product. Our engineers have rigorously tested zippers, and the results are clear: Ziptrak®’s patented side spline technology is far stronger, more durable, and more reliable than a zipper could ever be.
Over the past 25 years, this innovation has set the standard for outdoor blinds. With imitations — often featuring zippers — “Ziptrak®” has become a generic descriptive term for a product category, much like Band-Aid® or Corn Flakes®.
There is only one Genuine Ziptrak®.
What are Ziptrak® Interior Blinds?
Ziptrak® Interior Blinds provide superior insulation, privacy and sun protection. They are an innovative approach to traditional blinds for indoor living environments. Ziptrak® Interior Blinds are track guided, which means the blind material runs securely within a vertical track on both sides. When retracted, the blind is neatly hidden within a discrete and modern pelmet.
Capitalising on our patented track guided blind system; we re-engineered every element to be slimmer and more subtle. Each detail required meticulous design, utilising the most exceptional materials and finishing options. The result is a remarkably unobtrusive form, with timeless simplicity, worthy of its presence within your home.
How is the Ziptrak® Interior blind operated?
The Ziptrak® Interior blind can be either hand operated or motorised. With hand operation, the blind is spring balanced, resulting in the blind weight being supported by a tensioned spring inside the pelmet. The subtle bottom bar is easily moved with the touch of a finger, allowing you to open or close the blind in seconds, or leave at any intermediate position along the track. When retracted, depending on the height your blind is installed at, you may not be able to reach the bottom bar to lower the blind. To assist you, there is also an optional pull stick which extends your reach, so that you are able to pull the bottom bar down.
For motorised blinds, there is no visual difference when compared to a manual hand operated blind. You’ll have a simple, easy-to-use remote that allows you to open or close the blind with one touch. Whilst in movement, touch again to stop the blind and leave it at any position along the track.
Neither manual or motorised Ziptrak® blinds require cords or chains, which add unnecessary clutter to your window and a safety risk to children.
What are the maximum dimensions for Ziptrak® Interior Blinds?
A single Ziptrak® Interior blind can be a maximum of 3000mm wide, with a 2800mm drop. The minimum width is 450mm.
For drops up to 1600mm, the pelmet size is 75mm for most fabrics. Drops over 1600mm require a 95mm pelmet size – depending on the fabric selection.
What blind materials are available for Ziptrak® Interior blinds?
Light and translucent or heavy and block out; Ziptrak® Interior blinds come in a wide range of options. Our system caters for those looking for a defused, luxurious light or advanced light blocking for privacy and light control.
Your retailer will be able to show you dozens of options with different thickness, colour and texture that determine the end result.
A bedroom or media room may require and advance light blocking fabric, whilst a semi translucent material may be perfect for blocking glare and providing privacy, without losing the view, in a living room.
What colour options are available for the pelmet and side tracks for Ziptrak® Interior?
Ziptrak® Interior System comes in black, white and anodised. The pelmet, bottom bar and vertical tracks can also be powder-coated to a colour of your choice to match your home structure.
What type of surfaces can Ziptrak® Interior blinds be mounted to?
The side tracks and pelmet can be secured to practically any support structure of your window opening. Common surfaces that are possible for installation include timber, Gyprock® and plasterboard.
The side tracks (channels) can be installed with either a face fix or reveal approach.
What types of rooms do Ziptrak® Interior Blinds work in?
Due to the flexibility of the system, Ziptrak® Interior blinds have a wide range of potential applications:
- Block out for bedrooms, home theatres of home offices
- Safe solution for rooms children are often in; no cords or chains
- Windows that receive direct sunlight. The side tracks and a block out material will provide superior insulation properties compared with any traditional blind
- Kitchen or bathroom windows which require easy to clean blind materials that are mold resistant
- Stylish and minimalist installation for board rooms or conference facilities, offering total block out
- Apartments with large floor to ceiling windows. With a discrete pelmet and slimline side tracks, the Ziptrak® system offers complete light and privacy control when you need it and is unobtrusive when you don‘t.

Why are Ziptrak® Interior blinds great for insulation?
Ziptrak® Interior blinds have superior insulation properties to lower your energy bills, reduce your environmental impact and make your space more comfortable. Traditional blinds, such as panel drapes, roller blinds and venetians all have huge gaps that allow heat to enter during summer and escape during winter. Even cellular blinds, which are known for great insulation performance, aren’t a sealed system as there is a gap to the left and right.
Ziptrak® Interior solves this issue with an innovative track guided system, where the blind material runs within vertical tracks, creating an effective temperature barrier. The tracks are mounted flush against your window frame with highly precise custom installation for every situation.
I have a large set of windows which are floor to ceiling, what options do I have with Ziptrak® Interior?
The Ziptrak® Interior blind have a maximum width of 3000mm and drop of 2800mm. With multiple window and door openings, you can split into multiple blinds to effectively cover the area. When pelmets are mounted very high for windows that reach ceilings, motorisation is a popular option. If you have a door opening within a set of windows, it is advisable to have the door opening covered by a separate blind. This allows you to have the other windows covered, whilst the door blind is left retracted.

There are many advantages to a track guided system:
